Welcome to our Tiny Forest

Newbury's first Tiny Forests were planted on 26 March 2021, in the fields next to Moor Lane in Speen. At this location we have planted two identically-shaped Tiny Forests next to each other, but each one has undergone a different soil preparation method. The Northern site (funded by the DEFRA Green Recovery Challenge Fund) was fully excavated to 1 metre, whereas the southern site (funded by Thames Water) was rotavated to 30cm. We will be monitoring the two sites closely to see if the different soil preparation methods have an effect on the growth and development of the forests.
